Aqara Presence Sensor FP2
The Aqara Presence Sensor FP2 is a smart home presence sensor that uses millimeter-wave (mmWave) radar technology to accurately detect the presence of people, even with slight movements, distinguishing it from traditional PIR motion sensors. It offers advanced features like zone positioning, multi-person detection, and fall detection, and it can operate without an Aqara hub.
Key Features:
- mmWave Radar Technology: Accurately detects the presence of people even when they are completely still (e.g., sleeping or reading), with an ultra-high precision that captures even micro-movements like breathing.
- Zone Positioning: Monitors a room of up to 40 m² (approx. 430 sq. ft.) and allows you to divide it into up to 30 customizable zones (e.g., sofa, bed, desk) to trigger individual automations for each.
- Multi-Person Detection: Simultaneously detects and tracks up to 5 people in the same room, though tracking up to 3 people is recommended for optimal performance.
- Fall Detection & Alerts: When ceiling-mounted, the sensor can recognize falls and send instant notifications without the need for privacy-invasive cameras or wearables.
- Built-in Light Sensor: Includes a fully functional illuminance sensor to enable advanced brightness-based automations, such as turning on lights only when it's dark.
- Multi-Ecosystem Compatibility: Integrates natively with Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, and Home Assistant without necessarily requiring an Aqara hub, as it connects directly via 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
- Local Automation: Setup automations are executed locally rather than in the cloud, ensuring they continue to work even if your internet connection is unstable.
- Privacy-Focused: Detects presence through radar signals rather than images, providing a high level of privacy suitable for sensitive areas like bedrooms or bathrooms.
- Flexible Installation: Features an IPX5 waterproof rating for humid environments and a magnetic adjustable stand for wall or ceiling mounting.
